Rawai Beach is found on the southern most tip of Phuket Island, located very near to the Promthep Cape which is famous as a great spot to enjoy Phuket’s beautiful sunsets. Rawai Beach isn’t overly popular with tourists because the water is slightly murky, and not the clean clear waters that can be found at many of the beaches on the west coast of the island. But when the tide is full, and the water at its highest, the view at Rawai Beach is truly beautiful and very popular with photographers. It is also very comfortable in the afternoons and early evening, as there are pine trees situated along the shoreline that can offer a welcome respite from the hot sun.
Besides the beach there is also the harbor which offers convenient access to them various islands to be found at the southern end of Phuket. For example, Koh Hay (Coral Island) and Koh Racha (Racha Island) which can bothe be accessed by either long-tail boat, speed boat, or for a more leisurely trip the white ferry’s can offer chances to enjoy the scenery and take photographs.
If you venture to the western end of Rawai Beach it is possible to witness the traditional fishermen who still make a living catching fresh fish and produce from the sea. To get a feel for their authentic way of life you can visit the fishermen’s village where you can see them selling their catches, and also handcrafts made from the sea, which make great souveniers.
Just to the north of Kata Centre, on the way out to Karon, is the Dino Park Mini Golf course. This is no ordinary mini golf course; try to imagine keeping a steady club when there’s a T REX roaring in your ear, or when there’s a volcano erupting next to you.
When you emerge from golfing in the Jurassic jungle, the Dino Bar & Restaurant has soft drinks, and a menu with all sorts of weirdly-named stuff to eat.
Thailand has had 2 Miss Universes already, but they cannot be compared with the winner from Venezuela. But if we talk about Miss Queen International, then Thailand can be considered the crowned winner.
Even myself a resident of Phuket, has a problem deciding whether some of the girls I see when strolling around the pubs and bars in Phatong are men or women. This is because, other than their faces, they are as, if not more beautiful than a real women. Phuket has become a center for lady boys, and is inferior only to Bangkok and Pattaya. This is because, Phuket is a center for night-time entertainments and amusements and is a treasure trove for lady boys and is heaven for tourists who like lady boys as well.
The majority of these lady boys are especially talented in dance and entertainment, and if you like to see highly decorated performers, or if your partner or kids like fun performances, we recommend taking them to the Simon Cabaret, as this is guaranteed to be an impressive show.
Every year, many new resorts open around Phuket. Now however, lots of new resorts are being built away from the famous beaches like Phatong, Kata or Karon because there is not enough land left to make resorts that would be attractive and appealing to visitors, as these areas are already built up with resorts and hotels. Many new resorts are now being built near the beaches on the eastern side of the Phuket which still has beautiful green landscapes, and some are being built in the hills, and have wonderful sea views. Because if you go to a resort close to the beach, you may be disappointed the beaches on the east coast don’t have the same selling points such as the beautiful sunsets and some places are muddy, and only look as beautiful at high tide.
There is one resort that has escaped from the hustle and bustle of the famous beaches of Phuket, and hidden itself in the shade of Phuket’s jungle canopy. This resort presents an atmosphere that ensures that visitors receive a true feeling of pleasure and relaxation, by offering activities that holistically promote health and well being, in body and mind. If you would like some time at the beach, it is only 20-30 minutes away, and you can get there using the shuttle bus provided free by the resort.
This resort is called Sukko Cultural Spa & Wellness Resort, and can be likened to a small village were you will feel warmly welcomed and looked after in the traditional Thai fashion. After entering the front gates, appreciate the traditional murals lining the walls on the way to the lobby where your party can check in. The spa villas access by traditional horse or cattle cart. There is a steam room, massage bed and jacuzzi in the villa, providing a true Spa Resort experience.
